Welcome to the Upstate SC APA!

hapter #153 of the American Payroll Association has been created in the Upstate of South Carolina.  The chapter will serve the areas of Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson as well as the other surrounding counties and cities.

    The chapter got its start when a small group of payroll professionals decided it was time to provide continuing education and networking opportunities for payroll and human resource professionals in the area.
    In the future the group hopes to offer study groups for those who would like to sit for the CPP and FPC exams as well as get involved in the community.

      Payroll Administrator/Accountant

      Tri-County Technical College

      Location: Pendleton, SC

      Position Status: Permanent Full-Time

      Band 4: $26,988 - $49,932

      Work Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Friday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm; additional work hours may be required during peak processing periods

      Description of Position: An experienced and dynamic individual is needed to fill the role of the Payroll Administrator/Accountant. The Payroll Administrator/Accountant will be the College’s subject matter expert on all aspects of payroll processing, reconciliation and reporting. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, self-directed, solve problems and have the ability to communicate effectively across the College and with external stakeholders. The Payroll Administrator/Accountant will perform payroll functions and general accounting duties in the College’s Fiscal Affairs Department under the supervision of the Controller/Director of Fiscal Affairs.  This position processes payroll through an automated system (Banner); maintains and updates adjunct faculty and part-time employee contracts in the contract system; maintains documentation and payroll files (paper and electronic); audits all payroll related data entry and reconcile with available rosters; reconciles payroll liabilities to supporting documentation; ensures labor distribution to the finance system; prepares reports associated with payroll including state monthly reimbursements; monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports and annual W-2s; scans and indexes payroll documents into the document imaging system.


      Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree with fifteen semester hours in accounting related courses; or an Associate’s Degree with accounting related courses and two years accounting experience; or a High School Diploma with four years accounting experience.


      Preferred Qualifications: General understanding of accounting principles. Advanced knowledge of payroll practices and federal and state regulations. Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of Banner administrative software system.

      HCM Specialist (Human Capital Management)

      Primary Position Summary: Performance Payroll is looking for a professional to handle our clients in a fun, fast paced, dynamic environment. The HCM Specialist will normally handle a portfolio of clients, assisting with questions relating to their payroll, tax and HR services
      Key Result Areas:
      Specialist must be comfortable and proactive in reaching out to clients via phone and
      email to resolve payroll and tax issues. (If you are paralyzed by a ringing phone this may not be the job for you.)
      Representative must demonstrate ability to respond to client questions in a timely
      Representative should strive to provide a positive customer experience throughout the
      entire payroll process.
      Maintaining a high rate of client retention through quality service.
      Education / Training / Certifications:
      Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
      BA/BS degree is preferred with a track record of proven customer service skills.
      Great communication skills are a must.
      Comfortable with business software is important.
