Welcome to the Upstate SC APA!

Chapter #153 of the American Payroll Association has been created in the Upstate of South Carolina.  The chapter will serve the areas of Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson as well as the other surrounding counties and cities.

    The chapter got its start when a small group of payroll professionals decided it was time to provide continuing education and networking opportunities for payroll and human resource professionals in the area.
    In the future the group hopes to offer study groups for those who would like to sit for the CPP and FPC exams as well as get involved in the community.

      Payroll Administrator
      The Payroll Administrator is accountable and responsible for all aspects of quality service for clients. Contacts and assists clients in process of obtaining information for payroll production and tax related issues; verifies totals, responds to/resolves client questions and problems and delivers quality customer service.

      Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    • Two or more years of payroll processing experience
    • Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws required
    • Proven facility in MS Office, data entry and office equipment (e.g., telephone, head set, 10-key or calculator, computers, FAX machine, printer/copier)
    • Proven facility in customer service, and problem resolution
    • Must be able to work under tight deadlines
    • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills

    Payroll Analyst - Direct Hire

    Job Duties:
    Process Weekly, Biweekly, Semimonthly payroll in assigned states, Enter and verify Garnishments, Adjustments, Process all change requests, Payroll reconciliations to the GL, Create and distribute various payroll reports monthly

    ·         5 -7 Years of processing experience with payroll, Payroll taxes, journal entries, account reconciliations
    ·         CPP or FPC Required, or desire to obtain it within a year of hire
    ·         Associates or Bachelor’s Degree Required
    ·         Experience in ADP Required
    ·         Advanced Excel- V lookups, pivot tables
    ·         Experience within federal, state and local tax laws

    Payroll Manager
    Job Description: Responsible for timely and accurate multi-state payroll processing for 1,500+ employees while following company policy and procedures along with federal and state regulations.    Hands On position.  Processing and reporting; Management and supervision; Payroll taxes and Regulatory Compliance; Policy and Procedures.
    Bachelor's Degree; CPP Preferred
    5-7 years overall payroll experience
    2-3 years of payroll management or supervision
    Experience in the financial services industry and experience in a public company a plus.

    Treasury Specialist
    Job Description: Perform centralized payment processing duties (check payments, ACH and wire functions), maintain and assist with verify incoming and outgoing funds of te company and be the main contact between branches and banks.
    Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance or related field

    Working knowledge of Treasury Management products and systems; wire transfers, lockbox, and ACH processing

    Job Description: Supports accounting operations with month-end close assistance, document maintenance, and sub system data imports and other various administrative tasks.
    Two (2)+ years of experience required in administrative role in accounting department.

    A/R & Purchasing Specialist

    This position is responsible for controlling the 3rd party purchasing function for the distributorship to ensure that goods and supplies manufactured by Vendors other than Swagelok are purchased at the most competitive prices and are of the required quality.  Also will be collecting revenue by notifying customers of insufficient payments and handles delinquent accounts.


    Associate Director of Payroll

    Summary & Purpose: The Associate Director of Payroll will assist the Operations Director in carrying out responsibility for payroll preparation/processing and one or more related responsibilities such as tax reporting, benefits-records administration, or payroll systems maintenance.  Periodic systems' analysis will be necessary to ensure organizational goals are being met and future growth targets are supportable.

    Education and Training:
    Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field and five (5) years of payroll experience or a combination of education and work experience equaling the aforementioned expectation.  Must have advanced experience with GoToMeeting, WebEx, or other web-based meeting/training tools.
      Full Time/Exempt
