Welcome to the Upstate SC APA!

Chapter #153 of the American Payroll Association has been created in the Upstate of South Carolina.  The chapter will serve the areas of Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson as well as the other surrounding counties and cities.

    The chapter got its start when a small group of payroll professionals decided it was time to provide continuing education and networking opportunities for payroll and human resource professionals in the area.
    In the future the group hopes to offer study groups for those who would like to sit for the CPP and FPC exams as well as get involved in the community.

      Job Description:  Manage a small team of Payroll Admins.  This is a great opportunity to work in an atmosphere with a nice work-life balance and a variety of responsibilities.
      End to End Payroll processing for weekly and bi-weekly payrolls
      Prepare payroll reports for leadership team
      Coach and guide payroll staff
      Create and maintain payroll guidelines
      Follow federal and state wage and hour laws
      Ensure I9 and E-verify process is maintained

      Qualifications:  Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.

      Senior Analyst, Payroll/Benefits
      Qualifications:  The person in this position should have the following credentials:   University/College graduate with degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant  computer/software related fields and five years’ experience in Finance, Payroll/Benefits, and Information  Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.     Previous experience with SaaS/Cloud based ERP systems (Human Resources/Payroll/Finance functionality),  Infor/Lawson S3 & GHR, and Time & Attendance systems preferred.      Proficiency with business intelligence tools and relational database systems to query and sort data; SQL, Crystal  Reports; MS Excel and Access.   Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.   Aptitude to learn quickly and work independently. 

            Job Goal:  Under general direction, manages the daily technical and reporting needs of the District’s Infor/Lawson ERP System,  emphasis on Financial/Payroll/Benefits, and the Kronos/TimeLink Time and Attendance System.  Supports internal  customers in functional areas and serves as technical liaison to the District’s Educational Technology Services (ETS) and  Human Resources (HR) departments.

      Payroll Analyst

      Payroll Processing – process weekly, biweekly and semimonthly payroll cycles for hourly
      employees in a multi-state environment using ADP EV5.
      Responsible for preparing, processing, and reconciling various complex payroll transactions,
      including pre-payroll processing preparation and post-payroll processing adjustments and
      corrections; Audit electronic timesheets to ensure accuracy and completion; Process all wage
      garnishments, including communicating with the employee, setting up the garnishments in ADP
      Enterprise and ensuring the proper execution of all garnishments; Process all payroll change
      requests including direct deposit, tax withholdings, 401k contributions.
      Minimum 5 years payroll experience.
      Required to obtain the American Payroll Association Certification within one year of hire at either
      the Fundamentals of Payroll Certification FPC or the Certified Payroll Professional CPP.
      High School Degree required; BA/BS or Associates Degree preferred; Training in payroll
      processing and automated payroll systems preferred
      Payroll Software Experience required: ADP EV5 or WFN
      Time and Attendance Software Experience preferred: Kronos or ADP eTime


              Payroll Tax Notice Resolution Specialist
              Position Summary:
      This full time position is responsible for Notice Resolution as it relates to Local, State and Federal Tax Authorities.
      Research of tax issues by coordinating with internal staff, clients and agencies to find a quick and accurate
      Key job duties included:
      Investigate, determine the status and resolve payroll tax related notices.
      Perform tax filing research as needed.
      Track and maintain accurate tracking of issues.
      Provide weekly updates to Director of Tax.
      Contact clients and/or agencies as needed.
      Assist in Quarterly and Annual tax filings

      The Payroll Tax Notice Resolution Specialist will possess a strong desire to provide excellent service and the
      ability to following up will come naturally. The candidate will be motivated by doing it right the first time, solving
      problems, be detail-oriented and effective at helping others. Must be able to function in a team environment, and
      be PC literate and must possess or develop:
      o Analytical knowledge
